Pretty in Pink

So we found out today that we are more than likely going to be having another girl. I had been feeling that way, but it would have been fun for Mike to have a boy. Maybe the next go around. When we had Emma Mike was able to be there for the whole ultrasound, and they were wonderful at pointing out and describing everything we saw. This time, I was taken into a room by myself while they spent 30 minutes just taking pictures for the radiologist to look at, and then they let Mike come in to see the baby. Definitely not as nice, but I'm sure every practice does things differently. Mike thinks this baby is going to look a lot like Emma. At least the ultrasound pictures sure look similar. Perhaps they always do. We're sure excited, and can now help Emma understand that she is going to be having a baby sister. If only we could decide on another girl's name.

Mini Vacation

So since Mike had President's Day off of work we decided to take advantage of the extra time and head to Vegas to visit Merilee and Mark. It's nice having some family at least a few hours away. We enjoy spending time with the Andal's because we just relax and eat a lot of good food (thanks to chef Mark). It is also fun watching Emma and her cousin Annadele interact. They are only 3 weeks apart in age, but so different from each other. Annadele is a lot more calm and Emma is very inquisitive and likes to get into everything and anything that she shouldn't. She is the instigator of trouble, but so cute.:)

We also decided to bring our dog Rusty along. We sure love our pets, but it is always a struggle trying to decide what to do with them if we ever want to get away. We found a reasonable kennel in Vegas and decided that if he was having too hard of a time that we would just put him there for a couple days. I, especially, was so happy with how well he did being around other people and in a different environment. The Andals were wonderful to let us bring him and were so patient, which helped a lot. We also discovered a hidden talent of his. We didn't realize that he is part sheltie, part seal.:)


I also wanted to show this other video because it just cracks me up. Emma, and Annadele, are both really into dressing up in dresses. I didn't realize that Emma was in this stage until we got some cute new dresses from some friends of ours and this is the first thing she did after I put it on. She knew she looked so pretty, and just loves to dance and twirl around, especially in front of the mirror. Unfortunately our silly dog likes to get in on the action as well. For some reason he hates twirling dresses. Oh boy, girls are funny.

Cranky child and more

So this past week Emma has been sick. Poor girl gets colds a lot. I guess it's just the age. This time she had a fever so it called for a little extra special treatment. We just had a standard thermometer which she hates. She refused to let me put it under her arm, and the rectal at this age is a joke, so we broke down and got an ear thermometer. I was leery because we went to the doctor recently and she freaked out when they tried to check her temperature, or anything for that matter. She is in this stage where she thinks things are going to "hurt" her. She says "hurt you" if something hurts. As soon as she saw me pick up the thermometer at the store she pushed it away and said, "hurt you". Well we got it anyway and although I have to hold her down to use it I think she'll survive. Funny girl. So she finally started feeling better and then the last few days she has begun waking up screaming at 4:00 and 5:00 in the morning and refuses to go back to sleep. Her mother has been pretty tired the last couple of days. Luckily last night she slept a whole lot better. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but she is going through a faze.

On a happier note, Mike and I were able to go on a date last weekend. We just went out to dinner, but it was amazing how nice it was to go WITHOUT Emma. We were actually able to talk and enjoy our meal. We really need to make it a priority and get out more. Also, Mike surprised me and made us breakfast this morning. Pink heart shaped pancakes and eggs. I slept right through it so it was fun to wake up too. I'm sure lucky to have such a sweetie.

Little Lady Bug

I love getting hand-me-down clothes because you never know what little treasures you will find. This past weekend Emma inherited some new items and this little gem was included. She has wanted to wear it non-stop ever since. She keeps saying "bug", "bug". Her room is decorated in lady bugs and so this cute little costume fits her perfectly.
Everytime we take a picture of her she'll say "cheese" and then close her eyes. I don't know if she is anticipating a flash, but it's so hard to get pictures of her WITH her eyes open. I have to be sneaky. She wanted to take this picture with Rusty. You can see her arm around him. She sure loves her dog.


For other news things seem to be progressing well with this pregnancy. I think I am about 15 weeks along and my projected due date is the 1st week in August. It is VERY true when they say that with each pregnancy you start "showing" earlier. Maybe it's just me, but I sure think I am looking quite a bit bigger at this stage than I did with Emma. (Or maybe it could be all the goodies I ate over the holidays.):)

Impromptu Trip

Last weekend we had a fun impromptu family trip to Los Angeles. Mike was on his way back from a crazy work trip and luckily was able to find an earlier flight into LA. I packed up the fam, including the dog, and headed down to pick him up. Since the temple is in LA we don't get as many opportunitites to go as we would like, and we have also been wanting to visit the zoo, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to do both. I found a decent hotel near the zoo that allowed pets, for a minimal fee, and we were set. The worst part of the whole trip was trying to drive in Los Angeles. We are so glad that we don't live there, such a nightmare. Our hotel was right across the street from this awesome shopping plaza, similar to the "Gateway", but better. Emma enjoyed watching the water fountain show and riding the trolly car. Mike and I were hoping to enjoy a nice meal at the "Cheesecake Factory", (I have been craving it FOREVER!)but it was less than enjoyable since Emma would not sit still for anything. It was probably one of the worst dining out experiences we've had with her. There was just too much going on, and she was just overly stimulated. REALLY good food though. Mike went to the temple that evening and I went the next day. Next time we'll have to get a babysitter so we can go together. The next day we just enjoyed ourselves, took Rusty on a walk, went to the zoo, the temple, and then headed home. It was fun taking Emma to the zoo, but it took her a little while to figure out why we were there. She was able to brush and pet a sheep and goat, and also saw some "Gorilla's", which she loves to say.

It was a nice break for us as a fam, and especially for Mike since he has been traveling so much lately for work. We've decided that Impromptu trips are the best for the Sharp family because otherwise we just overthink everything and then end up not going.

So YES, we are expecting again. I am 13 weeks along and so far everything is going well. We were able to meet with our doctor today and luckily got some cute shots of our little peanut. Just like Emma they said this one sure "moves alot". Watch out Mommy! We are sure excited to welcome a new addition to our family probably the end of July, beginning of August. We feel so blessed to be able to have even Emma and so we're truly trusting in whatever the Lord has in store for us.

This and That

So my sister very kindly let me know that I need to be blogging more, even if it is just the mundane day to day things, so here it goes.

Last week my Dad and Dorothy came out to visit for a few days on the way back from their cruise. Hearing about their cruise and seeing videos sure made me hungry to go on one. For one thing the food looks amazing, and it would be nice to just go on a nice relaxing vacation with just my hubby. This seems like a very unlikely scenario since we have obligations such as pets and a child, but oh it would be nice.

It was so nice to be able to spend time with family, and Emma sure loves to see her Grandparents. Although, our silly dog barked at them the whole weekend it turned out pretty nice. We went to a neat antique car museum, and also saw some amazing instruments as well that they had on display there.




Emma has been so humorous lately. She sure picks up a lot from our dog. Besides trying to eat and drink out of his dog dish she has now really gotten into "kisses". Not just cute little pecks, but yucky slobbery kisses. I realized this morning as the dog was licking her and she was trying to "lick/kiss" it back that this may be part of the problem. Oh so gross. I am going to have to work on her "kissing" etiquette.


Last night Emma woke up at 3:00 a.m. with a nightmare. She was so worked up that she did not want to go back to sleep, she wanted to stay up and play. I made her go back to bed, but 30 minutes later she was up screaming again. She would not lie down again until I layed on her bedroom floor next to her for the remainder of the night. I guess it helped both of us since Mike is gone on a business trip this week and so at least I could be with her. I just hope this will not be a common occurrence.

So things are going well with our church callings. I am teaching the 11 year olds and am really enjoying the class. It is a fun challenge knowing how to teach them since I am so used to the little ones, but it is amazing how much they know and how thirsty they are for knowledge. I hope I can help them even just a little bit at this crucial age to gain a stronger testimony of the gospel. I am also the new choir director. I've had this calling before, but it sure intimidates me every time. Hopefully everyone will be patient with me.
