Getting Ready for Summer!

So we finally have a patio. We are going to be working on our backyard for the next couple of months to years, and the first thing to check off is the patio. It will be nice to have somewhere to sit outside now. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the sun is constantly shining on the back of our house and so we will eventually need a cover/umbrella. It was a lot of fun to watch them pump the concrete in and smooth and texture everything. Gracie is very anxious to get outside and see what all of the commotion is about, but there will be NO kitty paws in our patio. Next up are the sprinklers and that will be a big job for Mike in particular. We are realizing that there is a lot more to planning out your backyard than we originally thought. Where we planned on placing our fruit trees there is constant shade and things like that, so we will be changing things up again, but it will be nice when we get some grass, trees and some produce growing. It has been a little overwhelming, but fun as well.

Looking good! You are lucky that the backyard is fenced...look how long it took us to afford to put one in, I guess later is better than never:). Way to go with the yardwork!

That looks like a way nice patio. How fun. The sprinklers are a big job. So good luck with that. Renting a trench digger (what ever they are called) helps a lot. You don't have to dig as much. Are you doing grass? That would probably be the next big thing. In my opinion the sprinklers are the hardest. The rest isn't that bad.

I love it! The diamond pattern is really beautiful. Have you been able to get out and enjoy it yet or is it still too cold? I feel Mike's pain in regards to the sprinklers. Matt put them in at our Layton and PC home and one of his requirements when we moved down here was that we bought a house with them already in or we hired someone else to do it - he figured putting them in twice was enough ;-) I love how you are posting all the changes going on. It's fun to see all your progress, especially since we can't be there in person.
