Miss Molly
So as many of you know we have added a new addition to our family. On Saturday we finally decided to go out and get a "forever friend". We had been thinking about getting a dog for awhile and it just worked out. We had really wanted to get a dog from a shelter, but when this little cutie came up we couldn't refuse. She is a 4 month old cocker spaniel and she is just as sweet as can be. She has been pretty good so far about using the "outside" toilet, but has had a couple accidents, thankfully we just purchased a carpet cleaner.:) Emma just LOVES Molly and it is so fun to watch her give the puppy "hugs" and loves. It has been so nice having Melodee here and she has been a great help. It is going to be crazy when she is gone, but hopefully Emma and I will survive.
Also, here are some update pictures of our yard. Our trees are doing great and our grass is FINALLY coming in. We're going to have to re-seed, but some grass is better than none. We still have our garden boxes to put in on the far side of the yard, as well as mulching the flower beds and putting in some kind of walkways in our side yards. Some of these projects will have to wait until next year, but we feel great about what we've accomplished so far.

Ups and Downs
We have had a pretty eventful week. This past weekend we drove down to Las Vegas where we met up with all of Mike's sisters. He was very outnumbered, but seeing how he's used to that by now, he loved every minute of it. It was great to get together and spend at least a little time with family that we haven't seen in a few months. Mark made some wonderful food, we were able to see Sara's dance competition, tried Serendipity's frozen hot chocolate, and just enjoyed being together. It is also a lot of fun getting Emma together with her cousin Annadele. They had fun playing together. Another plus for this week is that we have Melodee staying with us for a couple of weeks. She just got home from her mission and we love being able to spend some time with her.
The down side to all of these festivities is that Emma got pretty sick Sunday night. She was vomiting most of the night and was sooo lethargic. We were so worried about her and as first time parents had no idea what to do. She has been feeling better off and on for 4 days and last night she slept the whole night through. She is feeling so much better today and it is wonderful to have her smiling again. On top of Emma getting sick, inevitably Mike and Melodee got sick as well. It hasn't been that fun of a vacation so far for Mel, but hopefully things will pick up. I still haven't caught the sick bug, YET, and I am really praying that I don't because let's face it, being sick is really crummy. So, things are looking UP again as everyone is recovering and we have a fun weekend ahead of us.
OH, these pictures make me want to cry!
This is what I like to see!

The Culprit
Last Thursday Emma and I met up with some sisters from the ward for a play date at the park. We were having a nice time chatting and just being outside. I eventually sat down with Emma and noticed that she had something "hard" stuck in her pants. I started to laugh because I assumed she had stuck one of her toys down her pants or something, but when I pulled it out, this is what I found!
She had been playing with this vacuum attachment before I got her changed for the day and with all of her squirming around I must have pulled her pants up including the attachment. My poor daughter had been roaming around for at least an hour before her mom realized that she had an added appendage. Oh, we had a good laugh about that, and in her spare time when she is not "pick pocketing", her new hobbies are these...
Boy does she love playing with our shoes. I clean this up more each day than anything else.:)

The Big 30 Has Come
So when I married my husband (who is 3 years younger than myself) we never talked a whole lot about our age difference unless Mike started thinking about my 30th birthday which always seemed so weird to him. Well, that big day has finally come sweetie, so sorry, you are officially getting old as well.:) Seriously though, I realize that 30 is not very old, but it does seem like a milestone. Mike had to go to a conference the past couple of days and so we celebrated my birthday over the weekend. We went out to dinner and then Mike made me a cake and we had our neighbors over for cake and ice-cream. Today isn't going to be especially eventful, but I think Emma and I might go out to a movie or something. Mike got me a really nice early birthday present. If any of you have seen my "puzzle picture", well it just wasn't fitting in the frame very well and so we decided to get an actual "picture" to go in the frame. I've kept the puzzle because my mom spent so much time on it and I loved the "Kinkead" picture. So, as I had been looking for a new picture, we happened to come across a painting that was so similar I just had to get it. I never thought that I would have something so nice to replace my "puzzle", so thanks honey for the beautiful gift. Thanks to all who have sent birthday wishes, it has meant so much to me. Any advice for the next decade? This past one has been pretty good and I know there's a lot more adventures to come, so bring it on.:) Puzzle

Frequent Visitor
So our neighbors have a Chihuahua who is pretty funny and really nosey. He just likes to be right in the middle of anything going on. He is a lot of fun and Emma LOVES him. His name is Chacho. I think I posted recently about how Emma was saying Chacho while at the neighbors house. So Chacho came over to our house for a visit yesterday. He loves giving Emma kisses, and today he and Emma were fighting over her toy bunny. It's always fun to watch them interact. Gracie usually gets in on the action as well. I think she needs a furry friend to play with. Emma also got to see her aunt Melodee for the first time, over the computer. We are soooo excited to have Melodee home! Woo Hoo!

While Daddy's Away
So Mike is gone on a 3 day business trip to San Francisco, and Emma and I are finding ways to keep ourselves busy. Mike and I pushed really hard to get the sprinklers in before he left. We got all the wiring and pipe laid on Saturday and early Monday morning we tested all our hard work. To our great relief the sprinklers actually worked. Unfortunately as we were flushing out the individual risers one of our main pipes came apart. Were not sure if it didn't get glued or what, but we had a BIG watery mess after that. So, we aren't quite done with the sprinklers yet, and I can't wait until that day so we can lay grass seed and actually move our plants to the flower beds. Oh well. Before Mike left I had such good intentions of getting the house back in order for when he gets home, but after last week's craziness I think I may take a break today. We'll see. So, Emma is officially 11 months old. This past year has really flown by. She took her first step on Saturday and has taken a few others while in the presence of her father, but not her mother. I have yet to see it, but she is getting better at standing on her own so it's just a matter of time before I am going to be chasing her around. She has such a fun personality and we are sure enjoying her. We sure can't wait until Daddy gets back though. It's not as fun without him.
(I can never get her to hold still long enough to get a picture unless she has something to hold on to. Unforntunately, this time she happened to grab a pen.)
